Drive in at the booked time. The garage works on the car and updates the status as the job moves along. You collect it when it is complete.
The mechanic comes to wherever the car is. You get the same progress updates, all the way through to completion.
During the service, the mechanic works through a guided vehicle inspection on their phone: 64 points across 8 sections. Each point is marked, and the result is written to your vehicle's record, so the condition of the car is documented, not remembered.
